What Causes Hair Loss in Women

Wednesday, October 15th, 2008

If youre a woman, hair loss is on your list you dont want as a problem. When you see too much hair coming out with every brushing, it alarms you very much. It is a calamity! What can be done to stop it? You first need to educate yourself on the causes of hair loss in women. You’ll want to identify the cause in your own case so that you can address this trauma.

In the united States, varied estimates show that 15-80% of women who experience significant hair loss as early as age 40 often attributes to normal aging. With statistics like these, lets take a look at several common causes of hair loss in women see what you can do to reverse this unacceptable condition.

Some experts say that a common cause is due to our use of tints, dye and bleaches. Frequent use of the products can weaken the hair, making it brittle and prone to breakage or loss. Another is the overuse of hairdryers which strips off the natural oils in your hair.

Tight curlers, tightly pulled ponytails and the wrong hair brush can cause a disaster on your hair.

If these hair loss causes fits your profile, simply avoid them for a while. Use a good conditioner, the right hair brush and a once-a-monthe mayonnaise treatment massaged and left for half an hour in your hair under a shower cap is also known to make your hair grow faster.

Stress, certain medications, hormone fluctuations and diet also contributes to hair loss. Teens and women entering menopause may experience this type of hair loss. It is temporary and can be reversed by correcting the causes. Consult with a pharmacist to see if any medications you are taking may relate to your hair loss. Practice relaxation techniques to battle your stress. Eat a balanced diet with lots of fruits and vegetables daily. Brewer’s yeast, nuts and wheat germ are high in protein which helps strenghthen your hair.

Another temporary cause of hair loss in women are stressful sigle events such as giving birth, undergoing a surgery or simply shock. In cases like these, hair regrowth can be expected in 2-4 months after your stressful event.
You may be surprised to learn that most cases of permanent hair loss is due to excess sebum at the hair root, which blocks growth of new hair. Even this condition can be remedied. It can take up to a year, depending on your case, to show good results. Many dermatologists recommend spirulina, applied topically as an extract to the scalp.

Its a good idea to see a dermatologist to have your condition assessed. Fortunately, there are a number of ways to address hair loss problem which will result in healthy hair growth.

Top 10 Acne Solutions

Acne problem is common to all ages. How do you make sure that you don’t develop acne on your most precious face?

Follow these ten easy quick solutions to maintain an acne-free face:

  1. Change your make-up. Make-up products are a basic content in any woman’s bag. But it is also a major factor in acne outbreaks. Oil based products can cause acne. .Use a non-oil-based make-up if you are prone to acne.
  2. Wash properly. Wash off your make-up off thoroughly every night. Use a mild liquid soap twice a day, preferably a facial soap and make sure you rinse the soap entirely off your face. Rinse six or seven times with fresh water.
  3. Use less make-up. Lessen the amount of make-up you put on.
  4. Leave the zits alone. Never attempt to squeeze pimples or whiteheads. A pimple is an inflammation, and you could add to the inflammation by squeezing it, which could lead to an infection.
  5. Know when to squeeze.  If the pimple has a little central yellow pus head in it, then a gentle squeeze will make it pop open very nicely. Once the pus pops out, the pimple will heal more quickly.
  6. Attack blackheads. Get rid of blackheads by squeezing them. A blackhead is a very blocked pore, and a gentle squeeze will help rectify this.
  7. Give dry skin extra care. Dry skin can be sensitive to some treatments.  Start with the lower strength products first, and then increase the concentration slowly. Use these treatments with care.
  8. Stay out of the sun when treating acne. Minimize you exposure to the sun especially when you are into acne medication. However, if you’re avoiding medications because of their often terrible side effects, then getting 10 to 20 minutes of sun exposure on your acne can be an excellent thing to do.
  9. Use one treatment at a time. Don’t mix treatments. Use only one treatment product at a time because treatments may cause adverse reactions if mixed together.
  10. Stop the Spread of Acne. Make sure you apply medication about half an inch around the affected area to help keep the acne from spreading. Acne moves across the face from the nose to the ear, so you need to treat beyond the inflamed area.

Facial Skin Care Routine

Wednesday, October 1st, 2008

The part of our body that’s obviously noticeable is the face. Most women would like to have a pretty face like those of the celebrities they admire.  But since not everyone is blessed with a goddess-like beauty, keeping your face healthy and zit-free is the best that you can do.

Caring for your face needs discipline. A facial skin care routine is what you need. But this of course needs to be done on a daily basis; thus  requiring a lot of discipline.

Here are the four basic steps in facial skin care:

  • Cleansing is the must-do  in facial skin care routine. It’s the first step. Cleansing helps in removing dust, pollutants, grease and extra oil from your skin, thereby preventing damage to your skin. Put a little amount on your face and neck with a good cleansing lotion or cream. Gently massage it into your skin using upward strokes. Use a soft face tissue or cotton wool to wipe your face in a gentle patting fashion. Never rub your face.  Do this at least twice a day i.e. morning Use water soluble cleansers for best effect.
  • Toning is the next in a facial skin care routine. Toning helps remove all traces of dirt, grease and excess cleanser. However, this can be optional part if you have properly cleansed your face, it can compensate for toning. Instead of making it part of your daily facial skin care routine, you can using toning occasionally especially when you have been exposed to particularly harsh environment or pollution.
  • Exfoliation can be an optional step in everyday routine for facial skin care. But exfoliation is necessary at least once a week or twice depending on your skin type and your environmental conditions. Exfoliation helps the skin to replenish the skin cells every 3 or 4 weeks. As a facial skin care technique, it  helps remove the dead skin cells that block the pores. A owrd of warning, though excessive or harsh exfoliation can also cause damage to your skin.
  • Moisturising. This is the most important part of facial skin care routine. Moisturisers prevent your skin from getting dry. When skin is dry the upper layer skin tends to break and result to dead skin cells. When moisturizing, use light upward strokes. Moisturisers work the best when applied on warm and damp skin.
