Top 10 Tips to Young Skin

Thursday, April 30th, 2009

The skin is the largest organ of the body since it covers almost two square meters surface area of your entire body. Keeping the skin healthy is the key to a beautiful face and body.

Here are ten tips to keeping your skin healthy and glowing. In spite of various skin care product available over the counter, it still pays to remember practical tips that will keep you beautiful without spending too much.

  1. ‘Drink a lot of water’. Eight glasses of water a day will help hydrate your entire body and also keep your skin moist.
  2. Cleanse your skin regularly about once or twice everyday). This is to get rid of the dirt and other harsh elements in your skin. You may use luke warm water for cleansing.
  3. Be gentle to your skin. Don’t scrub/exfoliate too hard or too often. Similarly, don’t apply too much or too many skin care products.
  4. Keep your skin moist at all times. Don’t let your skin get dry. Dryness causes the outer layer of your skin to break, leading to a rough and unattractive appearance. To avoid drying your skin, use moisturisers/ emollients. Moisturisers work best when applied while the skin is still damp especially after ypou shower.
  5. Do not use soap on your face. Use facial liquid soap that’s mild and won’t hurt your face. Soap should only be used from below the neck.
  6. Use sunscreen to protect yourself from sun’s harmful UV radiations. You don’t only use sunscreen on summer; you can use day-time moisturisers that have sunscreen built into them. Use them even when it’s cloudy. Don’t forget UV radiations are known to cause skin cancer.
  7. Exercise and good sleep are essential too, not just for skin care but for your health as a whole. If you don’t have enough sleep you may develop wrinkles below your eyes. Lack of exercise can also cause your skin to slack. Moreover, exercise and sleep also help in beating stress.
  8. If you have skin problems, go to your dermatologist. Treat skin dilemmas with care.  Consult your dermatologist before you go on to use a skin care product.
  9. Do not stress yourself. Stress can be harmful to everyone and  stress harms skin too. If you don’t relax, your skin will suffer. Why not take a break or indulge in a warm bubble bath or just get good sleep.

Can Dark Skinned Undergo Laser Hair Removal

Monday, January 5th, 2009

Problems with unwanted hair in some parts of the body can be treated by laser hair removal.

How does laser removal work? The procedure is done by the beams of light  produced by the laser. The laser device is applied to the skin causing to make it hot. The heat produced damages the follicle and thus, it keeps the unwanted hair from growing in the future.

The most important requirement for laser hair removal is that your hair is darker than your skin. But laser hair removal is also not recommended for naturally dark people. Why? This is  because too much laser energy is absorbed into their skin. Also after enjoying the summer heat and your skin is tanned, you must not also have laser hair removal done. Wait until your tan is gone and then proceed.

On the other hand, if you have light skin then laser hair removal procedure is advisable. It will yield better result as well as fewer treatments with quicker results. Darker skin could take longer for results to show and  more treatments will be involved.

  • Listen to your skin type and the environment when you choose and buy  facial skin care products.
  • Test the skin care product you bought. To do this, apply it on a short patch of skin e.g. ear lobes.
